a community comes together,a city comes together .......for a "Hero"

It was last Sunday Night when a police officer was getting ready to go back home late at night,he recieved a 911 from a person who heard gun shots in his neighbourhood. The officer and his team ran to the shooting sight. The gun shots were coming from inside a house ......from the upstairs bedroom........maybe the person who is firing the gun shots, wants to commit suicide. The police team broke the front door and let the officer inside. He started calling the shooters name and entered the house ,suddenly few gun shots came from the upstairs bedroom and the officer was shot very badly........he died later in the hospital. The stand-off between the police and the shooter continued for over 20 hrs and at the end the shooter killed himself. All the people living in the neighbourhood were evacuated from the houses.............they were told to go back home, slowly the police cars started to leave the scene,TV reporters, newspaper crews everyone started to leave but everyone was sad, tearful for what had happened ! A good man,a police officer who was a loving husband and father was killed in the line of duty ............so sad.
No one can bring back the officer but the community thought we can help his wife and his four kids ,the local ice cream parlours helped ,radio shows helped by sending volunteers to all major traffic signals to collect money for the fallen hero, local banks helped by starting a college funds for the officers family, city's police station helped by starting collecting money from few cents to thousands of dollars for their fallen hero.Within few days the city collected over $80,000 for the police officer.Every one pitched in Catholics and Jewish people,Muslims and Hindus,Mormons and Sikhs, rich and poor, young and old.The officer can not be replaced but atleast his wife will have to worry a little less ...............

(inspired by the true story of Officer O'Rouke who was killed in the city of West Bloomfield , last week)
